1982 C&C 38' (11.58 m) Landfall
Port Charlotte, Florida, United States
The Landfall 38 was introduced by C&C yachts in 1979 as a cruising boat using their existing 38' hull but with a different deck and interior accomodations. The result was a fast, close winded cruising boat, suitable for living, cruising and racing.

Description
The Landfall 38 was a boat that was ahead of her time, developed from a racing hull that was modified to provide fuller sections forward, a longer, shoaler keel, a raked transom (not reverse transom) and longer deck house for increased interior volume.
The Landfall 38 lies in the middle of the Landfall range between 35’ and 43’. While most C&C’s are geared for racing, both on the deck and interior, the Landfalls were geared more for cruising adding more comfort, detail in the finish and a deck layout more accommodating for a couple. But, the hull design is still more of a racer than a cruiser. The LF 38 is stiff and well balanced under sail and as fast, or faster than similar sized boats. The construction details are excellent. Unlike most boats with keel stepped masts, the mast doesn’t go into the bilge where corrosion exists, but rather the mast step spans two floor timbers in the bilge sump keeping the mast out of the water and also provides stiffness in the area where too often the area is weak in many other fin keel boats. The keel is an external lead casting bolted to the hull. The rig has airfoil spreaders and rod rigging. Down below lighting and ventilation is excellent. There are four large dorade cowl vents in the main salon plus opening hatches in the head and galley. The forward cabin has a large deck hatch which doubles as an escape hatch. The galley is well laid out and executed with deep centerline sinks, kick space under the counters and a large refrigerated icebox with insulated lid. You can cook at anchor or at sea with this galley and she has has excellent storage, good counter space, H&C pressure water and a backup fresh water pump. The main salon has a sturdy table that can actually serve six. There are port and starboard settees where backrests can be removed and there is also outboard storage. Opposite the galley is a huge head with separate shower stall. The aft cabin makes a good owner’s stateroom with a large double quarter berth to port and a chart table to starboard. There’s also a hanging locker. This is a great cruising boat and performance cruising is where it’s at for those who sail moderate distances between ports where schedules have to be met. The Landfall 38 will get you there fast, safely and in comfort which is perfect for where the boat now resides in SW Florida, but also would be a great Bahamas boat with the keel draft under 5’. She was a fresh water boat until the current owner brought her down from Michigan this year and is currently laid up for the summer season.
